Resort History and Theme

Disney’s All-Star Music Resort holds a special place in my heart because it was the first of the All-Star Resorts my family stayed at. Out of all the sections, Broadway is my favorite—there’s just something about the big, bold theater vibe that makes it feel extra magical.
This resort is all about music-inspired fun, with oversized instruments, bright colors, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a great pick for Disney fans and music lovers alike. Let’s take a look at how it all started and the fun theming that sets it apart!
The Origins of Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
All-Star Music is part of Disney’s All-Star Resorts trio, offering budget-friendly stays with plenty of Disney magic.
It opened in November 1994 as the second All-Star Resort, bringing a fun, music-inspired twist to Disney’s value resort lineup. The whole place is designed to celebrate different musical genres, blending oversized decor with classic Disney storytelling.
Theming at All-Star Music Resort
The resort is divided into five themed sections, each dedicated to a different genre of music. The theming is big, bold, and unmistakably Disney, with larger-than-life instruments and fun decor that make each section feel unique.
- Calypso: This tropical-themed area is bright and colorful, with giant maracas and island-inspired decor that bring a fun, beachy feel.
- Jazz Inn: Saxophones and drum sets tower over the walkways, setting the scene for a cool, jazz-club vibe.
- Rock Inn: Huge guitars and jukeboxes make this section a tribute to classic rock ‘n’ roll.
- Country Fair: Expect giant cowboy boots and banjos, giving this area a real down-home, country music feel.
- Broadway Hotel: My personal favorite! This section is all about the glitz and glamour of Broadway, with marquee signs and theater-inspired decor that make it feel like you’re stepping onto a stage.
No matter what kind of music you love, this resort brings it to life in a fun, over-the-top way. It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back!
Room Accommodations

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly Disney resort with comfortable rooms, All-Star Music has you covered. The rooms here are simple but practical, with just enough Disney magic to make your stay fun. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or solo, this resort keeps things easy and affordable.
Standard Rooms
The standard rooms are cozy and no-frills, but they have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Each room comes with two double beds or one king bed, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The decor ties into the resort’s music theme, adding a fun touch without being over the top.
It’s not the fanciest setup, but if you’re planning to spend most of your time in the parks, it’s a great place to rest your head at night.
Preferred Rooms
Want to be closer to all the action? The preferred rooms are located near the main building, dining areas, and bus stops, making it easier to grab food or catch a ride to the parks. These rooms have the same setup as the standard rooms, but you’ll save some extra walking time—which can be a big deal after a full day at Magic Kingdom!
TRAVELISTA TIP: All-Star Music Resort is a large resort, and the walk from the main building to the standard rooms can be quite a trek. For this reason, I would highly recommend booking a preferred room.
Family Suites
If you’re traveling with a larger group or just want extra space, the family suites at All-Star Music Resort are a great option.
These suites sleep up to six people and include a separate bedroom with a queen bed, a living area with pull-out sofas, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette with a full-size fridge.
The extra room makes a huge difference, especially if you’re traveling with kids or just want space to spread out. It’s a great setup for families who want more comfort and convenience without jumping to a pricier resort.
Decorating Your Room Door & Window
One of my favorite Disney resort traditions? Decorating our room door and window! A lot of guests bring Disney-themed decorations, lights, or window clings to personalize their space. It’s especially fun if you’re visiting during a holiday or a runDisney event—you’ll see everything from festive garland to Mickey-themed race signs as you walk around the resort.
My family loves doing this! We always have fun planning a theme and adding a little extra magic to our stay. Whether it’s a simple string of lights or a full-on display, it’s a great way to get in the Disney spirit and make your room feel even more special.
TRAVELISTA TIP: There are several companies that will come out and decorate your resort room or door. My favorite to use is Birthdays and More.
Resort Transportation to Parks

Getting around from Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is pretty straightforward, thanks to Disney’s complimentary transportation. If you’re not driving, the resort’s bus system is your main way to reach the parks. Here’s what you need to know!
Disney Bus Transportation
All-Star Music has free bus transportation to all four Disney theme parks, both water parks, and Disney Springs. The buses run regularly throughout the day, and each one is clearly labeled with its destination, so you won’t have to guess where you’re headed.
Travel times can vary depending on the time of day, but in general, expect about 20–25 minutes to reach each park. Buses can get busy during peak times (like early mornings and after fireworks), so if you want a seat, try to get to the bus stop a little early—especially for rope drop!
TRAVELISTA TIP: If you’re aiming to catch a specific show or reservation, give yourself plenty of time to navigate transportation and get through park security.
Tips for Navigating Disney Transportation
A little planning can go a long way in making your Disney transportation as stress-free as possible. The My Disney Experience app is a great tool for checking bus schedules in real-time, so you’re not left wondering when the next one will show up.
It’s always a good idea to allow extra time to get where you’re going, especially if you have dining reservations or Lightning Lane selections. Buses can get crowded during peak times (like early mornings and after fireworks), so if you want to avoid long waits, try traveling outside of those rush hours when possible.
With a little planning, getting around from All-Star Music to the parks is easy, so you can focus on what really matters—enjoying your Disney vacation!
Resort Shopping Options

One of the perks of staying at All-Star Music is having a convenient gift shop right on-site. Whether you need a last-minute souvenir, a quick snack, or something you forgot to pack, Maestro Mickey’s has you covered.
Located near the lobby, Maestro Mickey’s is the resort’s go-to shopping spot. You’ll find a wide selection of Disney merchandise, from clothing and toys to collectible pins. If you’re looking for a fun keepsake to bring home, this is a great place to browse.
But it’s not just souvenirs—Maestro Mickey’s also stocks plenty of essentials. They have snacks, drinks, and basic health and beauty supplies, so if you run out of sunscreen or need a quick breakfast bite before heading to the parks, you won’t have to go far.
Stopping by Maestro Mickey’s is always a fun part of our trip. My family loves checking out the new merchandise and picking out something special to take home. It’s a little extra Disney magic right inside the resort!

All-Star Music has a few solid dining options to keep you fueled for your Disney adventures. Whether you need a quick bite before heading to the parks or a refreshing drink by the pool, you’ll find something to enjoy right at the resort.
Intermission Food Court
Located in the main building, Intermission Food Court serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a mix of classic favorites and lighter options. You’ll find everything from burgers and pizza to salads and wraps, so there’s a little something for everyone. The musical-themed decor adds a fun touch, making it more than just your average food court.
My family always stops here for lunch or dinner on check-in day, and more often than not, we end up at the pasta and pizza window. It’s quick, easy, and a solid option when you don’t want to leave the resort for a meal.
TRAVELISTA TIP: Mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app allows you to order ahead of time and schedule a pick up time. It is a life saver when you want to grab a quick meal to eat in the comfort of your resort room.
Singing Spirits Pool Bar
Right next to the Calypso Pool, you’ll find Singing Spirits Pool Bar—the perfect spot to cool off with a drink in hand. They offer a mix of cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages, along with a few light snacks if you’re just looking for something small.
Spending an afternoon here is always a highlight for us. There’s nothing better than relaxing with a cold drink, soaking up the sun, and then jumping in the pool. If you’re planning a non-park day, this is a great spot to kick back and unwind.
TRAVELISTA TIP: Did you know that when you book with me as your agent, I take care of all of your dining reservations for you?! That’s right! No need for you to wake up at 5am to snag the best dining reservations… I’ve got you covered!
Resort Recreation & Amenities

All-Star Music isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s packed with fun activities and amenities to keep the whole family entertained. Whether you’re spending a day at the resort or just looking for something to do after the parks, there’s plenty to enjoy.
Water Fun at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
🔹 Calypso Pool: This is the main pool and easily the most popular spot at the resort. Shaped like a giant guitar, it has the Three Caballeros splashing around in the middle, adding to the tropical, fun vibe. My daughter absolutely loves this pool, and honestly, it’s one of our family’s favorites across all of Disney property!
Right behind Melody Hall, there’s also a small kiddie pool and splash pad—perfect for little ones who want to cool off without diving into the big pool.
The Calypso Pool is also home to daily poolside activities, like games, music, and trivia contests. If you’re looking for a fun way to hang out without heading to the parks, this is a great spot to relax and play.
🔹 Piano Pool: If you’re looking for a quieter, more laid-back spot, the Piano Pool is the place to go. Shaped like a grand piano, it’s a great spot for a peaceful swim away from the more lively main pool.
Sports and Recreation Adventures
Staying active (or just having some extra fun) is easy at All-Star Music. Here are a few ways to keep the fun going beyond the pool:
💥 Playgrounds: If you have little ones, they’ll love burning off some energy at the resort’s playground. It’s a great spot for them to run, climb, and play while parents take a breather.
💥 Jogging Trails: If you’re like me and love a good morning jog, there’s a nice jogging trail that winds through the All-Star Resorts. It’s an easy, scenic way to squeeze in some exercise while enjoying the atmosphere.
💥Campfire Activities: In the evenings, you can gather around the campfire for some good old-fashioned fun. Roasting marshmallows, making s’mores, and just soaking up the Disney magic—it’s a simple but sweet way to end the day.
💥 Mickey Tie Dye: One of the most fun activities at the resort! A few afternoons a week, cast members set up a table near the pool, where you can create your own Mickey tie-dye T-shirt. It’s such a fun (and messy) activity, and it makes for a unique souvenir to take home.
TRAVELISTA TIP: Mickey Tie Dye is one of my family’s favorite resort activities! We have done it on multiple Disney World vacations!
Entertainment Options
All-Star Music isn’t just a place to sleep—it has plenty of entertainment to keep the fun going even after you leave the parks. Whether you want to wind down for the night or enjoy some indoor fun, here’s what’s in store.
💠 Movies Under the Stars: Every night (except Saturdays), you can watch a classic Disney movie right by the Calypso Pool. Whether you grab a lounge chair or float in the water while watching, it’s such a fun and relaxing way to end a busy park day. The lineup changes regularly, but it’s always a hit with families!
TRAVELISTA TIP: The weekly movie lineup is usually posted in or near the lobby.
💠 Note’able Games Arcade: If you need a break from the Florida heat (or just love video games), the arcade is a fun spot to hang out. It’s packed with classic and newer games, making it a great stop for both kids and adults looking for some indoor entertainment.
Other Onsite Amenities
All-Star Music also has a few extra conveniences to make your stay even easier. Each room comes equipped with Hey Disney!, an interactive voice assistant that can help with wake-up calls, park information, and basic questions—it’s a fun little feature that adds some extra Disney magic to your room.
If you need to do laundry during your trip, the resort has self-service laundry facilities available. It’s easy to use and conveniently located, making it simple to freshen up your clothes mid-trip or wash those extra outfits after a long park day.
