Resort History and Theme
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort holds a special place in my heart as it was the first of the All-Star Resorts my family stayed at. Among all the sections, the Broadway section stands out as one of my favorites, capturing the essence of theatrical charm.
This resort, filled with vibrant theming and lively decor, celebrates various musical genres, making it a hit for music lovers and Disney fans alike. Let’s check out how it all started and the fun theming that makes this resort a favorite of mine.
The Origins of Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort is part of the All-Star Resorts trio, known for offering budget-friendly accommodations without compromising on Disney magic. Opened in November 1994, it was the second of the All-Star Resorts to welcome guests. The resort’s design celebrates various musical genres, creating a vibrant atmosphere where the love for music and Disney storytelling comes together.
Theming at All-Star Music Resort
The resort is divided into five sections, each themed around a different musical genre: Calypso, Jazz Inn, Rock Inn, Country Fair, and Broadway Hotel. The larger-than-life icons and decor in each section make you feel like you’ve stepped into a musical wonderland.
- Calypso: Bright and colorful, this section features giant maracas and other tropical elements that capture the lively spirit of Calypso music.
- Jazz Inn: With saxophones and drum sets towering above, this area celebrates the smooth and soulful vibe of jazz.
- Rock Inn: Adorned with huge guitars and jukeboxes, this section is a tribute to the rock ‘n’ roll era.
- Country Fair: Giant cowboy boots and banjos set the scene for a rustic, country music experience.
- Broadway Hotel: My personal favorite, the Broadway section, brings the magic of Broadway musicals to life with marquee signs and Broadway-style decor.
Each section of the resort is designed to really pull you into the music scene it’s themed after. Whether you’re into jazz, rock, country, or Broadway, you’ll find yourself surrounded by fun and colorful decor that makes your stay even more memorable.
Room Accommodations
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort offers comfortable and budget-friendly rooms that are perfect for families, friends, and solo travelers. While the setup is straightforward, the musical theming adds a unique and fun touch to your stay. Let’s explore what you can expect from the accommodations here.
Standard Rooms
The standard rooms at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort are designed to be both cozy and practical. Each room features two double beds or one king bed, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a bathroom with a shower/tub combination. The rooms are decorated with musical motifs, making you feel like you’re living in a musical wonderland.
Preferred Rooms
For those who want to be closer to the main amenities, the preferred rooms are a great option. These rooms are located near the main building, dining areas, and bus stops, offering extra convenience. They come with the same features as the standard rooms but are in more central locations within the resort.
TIP: All-Star Music Resort is a large resort, and the walk from the main building to the standard rooms can be quite a trek. For this reason, I would highly recommend booking a preferred room. Just keep in mind that preferred rooms come at a higher nightly rate than standard rooms.
Family Suites
If you’re traveling with a larger group or just want a bit more space, the family suites at All-Star Music Resort are perfect. These suites can accommodate up to six people and include a separate bedroom with a queen bed, a living area with pull-out sofas, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette with full-size refrigerator. The extra space makes these suites a great choice for families looking for comfort and convenience.
Decorating Your Room Door & Window
A fun tradition that Disney resort guests do is decorate their room door and window. Guests often bring their own Disney-themed decorations or favorite characters to personalize their space. Especially if you are traveling during a holiday or a runDisney event, you can walk through the resort and marvel at all of the window decorations!
Our family loves doing this! We have so much fun planning a window or door theme for other guests to see. Whether it’s window clings, lights, or themed decorations, it’s a great way to add some extra magic to your stay and join in the festive spirit.
TIP: There are several companies that will come out and decorate your resort room or door. My favorite to use is Birthdays and More.
Resort Transportation to Parks
Traveling from Disney’s All-Star Music Resort to the theme parks is easy with Disney’s complimentary transportation options. Let’s go over what you can expect and some tips to make the most of it.

The buses run regularly, making it convenient to get to your destination and back to the resort without any hassle. Each bus is clearly marked with its destination, so you’ll know exactly where you’re headed.
Estimated travel times can vary, but generally, you can expect about 20-25 minutes to reach each park.
TIP: If you’re aiming to catch a specific show or reservation, give yourself plenty of time to navigate transportation and get through park security.
Tips for Navigating Disney Transportation
To make your travel around Disney as smooth as possible, planning ahead is key. Use the My Disney Experience app to check bus schedules and plan your trips, helping you avoid long waits. It’s also a good idea to allow extra time to get to your destination, especially if you have dining reservations or Lightning Lane selections. Buses can be busy, particularly during peak times like park opening and closing, so try to travel outside of these peak times if possible.
With these tips in mind, getting around Disney’s All-Star Music Resort and the parks should be a breeze, allowing you to focus on enjoying your magical vacation.
