• Why Visit: Puckett’s is a downtown favorite and one of my go-to spots for breakfast with friends. If you’ve never tried their skillet cinnamon roll, you’re missing out—it’s that good! For lunch or dinner, you can’t go wrong with their classic meat-and-three options. The cozy vibe and live music make Puckett’s the perfect spot to soak up the local flavor and enjoy a laid-back meal.

Jeff’s Family Friendly Restaurant

• Location: Tucked away off East Main Street
• Why Visit: Jeff’s is the hidden gem of downtown Murfreesboro! If you’re craving an authentic southern meat-and-three, this is the place to be. Their homestyle cooking hits the spot every time, and I can’t get enough of their four-layer cakes—they’re some of my all-time favorites!

TIP: Jeff’s doesn’t stay open late so if you are stopping in for a meal make sure you get there before 6pm. When my family first moved to downtown Murfreesboro, we enjoyed meals from Jeff’s once a week! It is my favorite meat and three in Murfreesboro!

Kleer-Vu Lunchroom

• Location: Situated a few blocks off the square
• Why Visit: Kleer-Vu is a family-run spot that’s all about serving up southern comfort food the old-fashioned way. This cafeteria-style restaurant is known for its homestyle classics, and if you stop by, you’ve got to try their famous BBQ chicken or ribs—they’re a local favorite!

The Boulevard Bar & Grille

• Location: Across the street from Middle TN State University campus
• Why Visit: The Boulevard Bar & Grille is a favorite for my family! Their menu has a little bit of everything—pizzas, Mexican dishes, burgers, sandwiches, and classic American favorites. It’s also the perfect spot to hang out on game day. Whether you’re rooting for the Blue Raiders or your favorite pro team, the laid-back, community vibe at The Boulevard makes it feel like you’re watching with a group of friends.

City Cafe

• Location: Situated in the heart of Murfreesboro just off the square
• Why Visit: City Cafe is a true Murfreesboro classic. As the oldest restaurant in town, dating back to 1900, it’s a beloved landmark where locals have gathered for generations. Known for its classic southern comfort dishes and welcoming atmosphere, City Cafe isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to feel connected to the heart of Murfreesboro’s history and community.

TIP: City Cafe is only open for Breakfast and Lunch and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Marina’s on the Square

One of my favorite things about The Alley on Main is their wine-tasting event. Held on the first Monday of each month, it’s the perfect excuse to sip, mingle, and support a great cause all at the same time!

TIP: The Alley on Main has very limited weekend hours. They are open for dinner service on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. Make sure to plan your visit accordingly.

Boro Bowls

• Location: Just off the square on Church Street
• Why Visit: Boro Bowls is the perfect spot for fresh, nutritious bowls and smoothies. Their wholesome ingredients make every bite both satisfying and nourishing. If you’re looking for something lighter and different from the traditional southern meat-and-three, Boro Bowls is a refreshing, health-conscious option you’ll love.

• Why Visit: Donut Country is the go-to spot for delicious breakfast treats in Murfreesboro. My family can’t get enough of their donuts and pastries—they’re always fresh and so good! It’s the perfect place to kick off your morning with something sweet and a little local charm.

TIP: Donut Country also serves breakfast sandwiches so if you would rather something savory for breakfast, you can still find something to suit your taste buds!

Slick Pig BBQ

• Location: Situated on East Main Street close to MTSU
• Why Visit: Slick Pig BBQ is a must-visit for anyone who loves good barbecue. Their perfectly smoked meats are packed with flavor, and it’s easy to see why this spot is a Murfreesboro favorite. The laid-back vibe and family-friendly atmosphere make it a great place to enjoy some authentic Southern barbecue.

Bean Loft Coffee Company

• Location: Nestled right next to MTSU Campus on Middle TN Blvd

TIP: The best place to park for both The Boulevard Bar & Grille and Bean Loft Coffee is behind the buildings, off of 4th Ave.

• Why Visit: Hattie Jane’s Creamery is the go-to spot for ice cream downtown, serving up a modern twist on classic Southern flavors. It’s the perfect place to grab a sweet treat while you’re strolling around the square.

Joanie’s

• Location: Next to Red Bicycle on the South Side of the Square
• Why Visit: Joanie’s has earned its reputation as the best breakfast spot in Murfreesboro, and I totally agree! Their made-from-scratch breakfast staples and gourmet coffee are hard to beat. If breakfast isn’t your thing, they’ve got a great made-to-order menu for lunch and dinner, too.

If you’re looking for an engaging and enlightening experience for your little ones, The Discovery Center is the place to be. Trust me, it’s worth every visit!

TIP: When visiting the Discovery Center, make sure to also spend some time enjoying Murfree Spring Wetlands. This 25 acre Murfreesboro city park sits adjacent to the Discovery Center.

On Friday evenings in the summer, Patterson Park comes alive with the Friday Night Market in the Boro. Local artisans display their crafts, food trucks tempt you with the most delicious variety of cuisine. Each Friday is like a community block party with good food and great friends!

TIP: Friday Night Market in the Boro is a favorite for my family! Make sure to plan your visit around this event so you can check out the variety of food trucks! We especially love Mission Tacos and the Pink Sugar Funnel Cakery.
